Organized by

The Tracks

Select a prompt from any one of the following tracks. The prompts will be released for each track on the day of the event.

The Judges

Get an opportunity to get feedback from the best and brightest minds in data science.

It's now time to showcase your data skillset

You've spent all the time in the classroom learning how to clean & wrangle data, making visualizations, and building machine learning models. Now it's time to apply your skillset to real world problems.

We will accept projects built with a wide variety of tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, Excel, and SQL.

And if you don't know how to use any of these tools but still want to participate? Don't worry! We've got you covered. We will be hosting workshops on some of these tools the week before the Datathon!

FAQ

Who can register?

Anyone! Though we are a University of Washington Registered Student Organization, this event is open to anyone of all skill levels - and it’s all free!

What if I don't know how to code?

You do not need to know how to code or code for this hackathon. You can use no code tools like Excel, Power BI, and Tableau to build solutions instead. Our hackathon is specifically created for you to just design your solution

How do I chose a track?

On the day of the event we will announce the prompt of each track. Discuss with your team and find a track you think you could do the best in. There is no advantage/disadvantage for choosing one track over the other. They’re all great options and you should just pick the one that is best for your team. If you are having trouble, we’d recommend brainstorming ideas for each prompt and choosing the most promising idea.

Can I add my projects to my portfolio after?

Yes of course. You have made them and hence you rightfully have the right to keep it and use it in any form or format. We would appreciate a small mention of our club in the project description, but that is completely optional.

I'm new to Data Science?

Yep! Many of our participants are brand new to Data Science, and we have many others coming from all different skill levels. We will be hosting workshops on data science tools before and during the event.

Do I need a team?

You can build alone, or up to teams of 5. Most participants choose teams of 4-5. You can make a team before the event itself or attend our team building event to make a team. If you choose to make a team before the event itself, ensure all of your team members are registered for the event.

Can I back out after registering?

If you do not wish to participate please let us know via email at dubstech@uw.edu We will miss you!

What is the code of conduct?
